I am Anita Ortega, a perinatal professional, childbirth educator and placenta specialist. I’m passionate about life, joy, wholeness and all things birth related!
I long to see parents grow into the people they feel most whole as and I believe this can be hugely impacted by their birthing and postpartum experience.
When I am not totally obsessing about birth and placentas, I love to spend time with my husband, son and dogs catching up on our favorite shows, drinking coffee and walking (“walking” is a thing, right?!).
I journey with expecting and growing families in the Snohomish, Skagit, and Island County areas, to support them as they experience pregnancy, birth and parenthood with even more joy and hope.
I join your birth team the moment you sign me up as your doula! I am excited to walk alongside you as you plan your birth and postpartum adventure.
We will meet for one prenatal visit in which we will dream together about your birth. We will go over comfort measures, coping skills, and position circuits as we connect over all things birth and baby.
I will join you for your labor and delivery whenever you feel like you need extra support and be there until you feel safe, fed and comfortable after the baby arrives.
We will meet again in the early weeks after the baby arrives to debrief your beautiful birth.
As a postpartum doula, I love to offer extra hands, heart, and support to families. This looks different for each family.
It often includes support such as: help with your toddler, pet, laundry, meal prep, listening to and caring for the new parents and baby, sleep, showers and so on.
My goal and heart are for you as the new parent to feel totally seen and cared for and to help your family settle into the new and sweet dynamic a baby brings.
Placenta Encapsulation is such great support to have available as you navigate your postpartum journey. My process includes steaming and dehydrating the placenta. I also include a cord keepsake and placenta print with each placenta processed as well as a tincture upon request.
Child Birth Education
I love offering childbirth education classes! It is so fun to learn, laugh and plan for your birth together! These classes can be customized to each family’s needs and is a great add-on to your doula package.
People often ask me why I became a doula. I spent four years in South Africa volunteering with an incredible organization, Baby Safe, that worked to fight against baby dumping. I often found myself working with pregnant or new moms who were seeking hope so desperately, and who needed support just to make it another day. I learned so much about the need for love, support and hope from these women, I learned so much about myself and my own dreams. I fell in love with supporting them. I found my dream job through this. I became a doula so I could continue to offer life, hope and options to women all over the world.
Anita was such a lifesaver! She went above and beyond what I was expecting. She was my Doula and also did my placenta encapsulation. If I have another baby I will definitly be calling her. We wouldn’t have made it through the day without her!
Anita was my doula for both my sons births. It was so wonderful to have her there to encourage and support me through each birth. It really did help me feel empowered through the entire experience. She is so personable, warm hearted and eager to help out however she can. I would recommend having a doula to everyone. It made such a difference to me and my birth story.
Working with Anita as our doula was just amazing! She was so supportive and encouraging throughout our experience, always sending positive vibes at the time when I needed them the most. During the birth she was calm and made great recommendations on positions and pain management. She worked seamlessly with both my partner and the midwide team. And she captured some beautiful pictures and video of the final stages of birth-unplanned, but we are so beyond thankful to have these now. We cannot wait to work with Anita again!
